The scheme, run by four Trustees, is an independent enterprise but has the support of the Flatcoated Retriever Society.
Should your Vet recommend the removal of a lump or bump from your Flatcoat, you might like to consider helping the ongoing research at the Cambridge Veterinary School by asking your Vet to send ti for pathological investigation. Cambridge will report their findings direct to your Vet. All the information given to the Oncology Department is competely confidential. The costs of the pathological investigation is borne by the Tumour Survey and funded by voluntary donations and fund raising events. The facilities of this survey are only available to UK Flatcoated Retriever owners. To take advantage of this scheme, should the need arise, you will need a form for you and your Vet to complete which should accompany the pathological tissue. This form can be obtained from Mrs Deborah Miller (see below). Forms can be emailed, faxed or posted - whichever is the most convenient. By using the survey, you will be helping the veterinary profession learn more about the cancers which affect our breed and we thank you for your help.
