General Committee Update January 2021

The following topics were discussed at the General Committee Zoom meeting held on Sunday 24th January 2021.

The discussion document had been revised by the Field Trial Sub Committee, as agreed at the previous meeting, and was presented to the General Committee for their consideration. The Committee agreed, in accordance with current Kennel Club guidance, that the revised document should be circulated to the membership for their comments with the 2021 AGM papers.

Addendum to this: The Field Trial Secretary has since notified the General Committee that the Field Trial Sub Committee had made the decision to withdraw the document. In the light of this decision the document will not now be circulated.

New Area Representatives for the following areas were agreed.

Lancashire/Merseyside: Vicky Crossley and Nancy Hargreaves

Nottinghamshire: Elaine Whittaker

West Midlands: Jan and Paul Egginton

Both the 2020 and 2021 AGMs were discussed, and several constitutional issues were identified (due to outstanding business from 2020). The size of the membership was also a consideration. Therefore, it was agreed that the Hon Secretary would contact the Kennel Club for guidance on how to proceed whilst ensuring the Society’s Constitution is upheld. Addendum to this: The Hon Secretary has since received the following advice from the Kennel Club “For the present time, we advise societies to delay and await our further guidance, which will be issued in the very near future”.

The Health Coordinator reported that there had been a good response to the health survey with over 1300 responses received online to date. Plans to hold a health seminar day in 2021 are ongoing, and the committee agreed a suggestion by the Health Sub Committee to investigate options for holding a virtual event instead of meeting in person.

The Acting Show Secretary advised that the Championship Show planned for 4th April was to be postponed, a new date of the 22nd August 2021 had been approved. Two new members to the Show Sub Committee were agreed: Lauren Broome and Lyn Strudwick. It was agreed that judges of the Championship shows can be non-members.

Date of next Zoom meeting Saturday 27th February 2021.
