General Committee Update May 2021

Update following the General Committee Meeting on May 27th 2021

A discussion took place about the current high prices being charged for Flatcoat puppies by some breeders. The General Committee recommend that the maximum price to be charged for a puppy should not exceed £1500 and this advice is reflected in the current guidance document on the Society website.

Following the result of the proposition in the 2020 AGM papers to make the Society Health Sub-Committee Chairman an Officer’s position it was decided that there should be a new title to sit in line with that of other Officers and that the title will be Hon. Health Secretary.

The Judges and Show Sub Committee have revised the manner of selection of judges for the Society Championship Shows, and this has been approved by the General Committee. Judges eligible for selection will be those who have not judged the Ch Show in the previous five years and who are not contracted to judge up to the year preceding the relevant Ch Show. There is no longer a requirement to be a member of the Society. A short list of twenty judges from the resulting list will be selected using a random number generator and members will be asked to vote for two names. The ballot sheet will be sent out with the AGM papers.

The Society Open Show had an excellent entry of 121 dogs totalling 146 entries.

The 2021 AGM will take place on 11th July at the usual venue Grounds Farm, Wishaw B76 9PQ.

Current nominations are:

Chairman Mrs Jane Jones

Vice Chairman Mrs Jan Egginton and Mrs Sheila Neary

Treasurer Mrs Heather Harley

New committee member nominations, Mr Steve Ashby, Mrs Jenny Campbell, and Miss Kelly Holland

A disclaimer has been posted on to the website for events that are advertised on the web site but are not Society events (a Society event is defined as one where finances go through the Society bank account and participants are therefore covered by Society insurance) non-Society events will be identified by an asterisk.

Two companies have been invited to provide a quotation for the new web site design. The web site working group will be meeting the two companies for further discussion shortly; after which a decision will be made and work on the new website will begin.
