Statement from The Flatcoated Retriever Society
We have recently been made aware that the financial probity of the General Committee has been brought into question on social media. Two areas have been commented on the content of which is both misleading and inaccurate. The first subject raised is that in April 2019 the General Committee made a donation of £30,000 to the Animal Health Trust just before it went into liquidation. This is incorrect. A donation of £9250 was made to the Animal Health Trust in April 2019 for the Histiocytic Sarcoma Research project, and this was jointly funded by the Brenda Phillips Memorial Health Fund, the Shirley Radburn legacy…
Update on Meeting of the 27th June 2022
The FCRS held a Zoom meeting with representatives from both the General Committee and the Field Trial sub on Monday 27th June 22. This was a positive and constructive meeting, where member’s concerns regarding the working Flatcoat were discussed, common ground was established and a way forward agreed. However it was felt further information needed to be sought, after which another meeting will be held. A further update will follow as soon as practicable after this meeting is held. Update following The General Committee meeting of 16th June 2022
Mrs Helen Ford resigned from the position of Field Trial Secretary on 14th June and, although requested to re-consider her decision, has declined to do so. The General Committee would like to thank her for her hard work and commitment over the past year. Mr Steve Ashby resigned from the General Committee on 17th June and the General Committee would like to thank him also. There is now a vacancy for the position of Field Trial Secretary and General Committee member. 1. The General Committee co-opted Roz Bellamy as the Hon Secretary and Sarah Young as the Working Test Secretary. 2. Collection box for Ukraine Appeal at Society Shop Stand at Crufts, Sunday 13th March
Update: The Flatcoated Retriever Society joined other Breed Clubs at Crufts in collecting for all these poor dog owners staying in Ukraine with their dogs. Thank you to Sarah Egginton for the suggestion and supplying the beautiful collection box that she and her partner Jack designed and made especially. Rescue, Rehoming and Welfare Scheme
‘The General Committee have co-opted Jan Egginton to take on the position of Coordinator of the Society’s Rescue, Rehoming and Welfare Scheme. This is effective immediately however Inger Alexandersson, chairperson of the Scheme, will continue to cover the role temporarily until a handover is effected. The vacant Area Representative positions have also been filled by the following people; Scotland Senga Thorpe, Central England Helen Smith, and North Wales Jan Egginton. Cyraine Dugdale
We are very sad to be informed that Cyraine Dugdale passed away peacefully in her sleep on 29th November 2021. A lovely lady, judge and breeder who was respected worldwide, Cyraine enjoyed both working and showing her dogs under the Casuarina affix. General Committee Meeting 17/10/21 Update
The General Committee met for their first face to face meeting since February 2020. Three new members were welcomed on to the Committee, Steve Ashby, Jenny Campbell and Kelly Holland. Vacant Committee positions were discussed, Heather Harley has taken over as the administrator of the 250 Club and Charlotte Wear is taking over responsibility for the running of the Society shop. Both Jane Jones and Sarah Egginton have said that they would like to give up the editorship of the Yearbook and Newsletter respectively after this year.
