General Committee Update January 2021
The following topics were discussed at the General Committee Zoom meeting held on Sunday 24th January 2021. The discussion document had been revised by the Field Trial Sub Committee, as agreed at the previous meeting, and was presented to the General Committee for their consideration. The Committee agreed, in accordance with current Kennel Club guidance, that the revised document should be circulated to the membership for their comments with the 2021 AGM papers. Training and Behaviour Advice
The Society would like to offer all owners of Flatcoated Retrievers advice and support if you feel you need some help in training your Flatcoat. We will endeavour to give you advice and where possible put you in touch with trainers who are experienced in training Flatcoated Retrievers in various disciplines. General Committee Update December 2020
Committee Update The first meeting of the General Committee since 15th February took place on 15th November by Zoom, this was followed by another meeting on 6th December Due to the length of time that had elapsed between meetings there was much to discuss. RNLI Donation
Jenny Bird the Secretary of the FCRS received a lovely ‘thank you’ letter from Dunbar RNLI and we would like to share this with our members. This was received in respect of the Society’s donation on behalf of our members, in appreciation of the amazing work that the RNLI do but in particular the rescue they successfully made for Fergus the Flatcoat when he was in trouble. Some members may be aware that Phil Goodman has resigned as Chairman of our General Committee and that Jane Jones has taken over as Acting Chairman until an AGM can be held. Victoria Goldberg, who would have stood down as Honorary Show Secretary at the cancelled 2020 AGM has also decided to step down. Breed Health Coordinator Award 2019
Many congratulations to the Society’s Health Coordinator,Liz Branscombe, she has won the KC Breed Health Coordinator Award for 2019 at the International Canine Health Awards, supported by The Vernon and Shirley Hill Foundation administrated by the Kennel Club Charitable Trust. The H Reginald Cooke Books
If you are interested in the history of the Flatcoated Retriever and especially the working side of the breed this is a must for you.
