Flatcoated Retrievers and Friends

Shirley Oxford organised a successful dog activity day in August, she sends the following report:

On Sunday 29th August we held a day for Flatcoated Retrievers & friends.  We offered a variety of activities from Obedience, gun dog work, showing & handling, Free work and other disciplines. Agility was watched and enjoyed by all after lunch and people had a chance to have a go. We had a First Aid talk, a Behaviour talk and ended with a talk by Medical Detection Charity. A bit of fun to end the afternoon, whilst everyone was partaking of cake and tea, was me being trained with a clicker!

Excellent food was provided by the village shop and everyone said the sausage rolls were the best.  In all we had around 48 dogs attend and 42 owners. A small group of children enjoyed the day. Weather was kind to us, there was much laughter and I hope people enjoyed the day and now have ideas of activities they can enjoy with their dogs. One family said they “laughed a lot and learnt a lot’’, what more could we want.

We raised £300.00 for Medical Detection dogs and £30.00 for Therapy Dogs Nationwide.
