Area Representatives

Shirley Oxford, Area Representative Co-Ordinator, and the members listed below are able to give information and advice concerning Flatcoated Retrievers but if they are unable to assist with the information required, you will be referrred to an appropriate person.  However, the Society would ask everyone to appreciate that although any advice is given in good faith, neither the Society nor the Representative concerned can be held legally responsible.  Please telephone them at a reasonable time and not after 9.00 pm.

Information about the Area Representative Role

As an Area Representative you may be asked for help and advice from owners seeking support and help with their Flatcoated Retriever. They may be considering buying or rescuing a Flatcoated Retriever and would like to have more information before they make their decision. If there are any queries you do not feel able to assist with, please refer the owners onto more appropriate sources of help.

It is helpful if you can allow new or prospective owners of Flatcoated Retrievers time to spend with your own or other Flatcoats, so that people can have an idea of the breed and their  characteristics.

It would also be helpful if you could have a list of clubs or trainers who could offer training in  various disciplines, such as gundog training, showing, obedience, agility etc. Although the Area Representatives endeavour to check and validate trainers, clubs etc. it remains incumbent upon  individuals to also verify these things for themselves. The Flatcoated Retriever Society cannot be held responsible for doing so.

People looking for puppies can also be directed to Jenny Bird or Shirley Johnson, who both keep a record of puppies available. We can also suggest people look at our website which gives comprehensive advice on buying a puppy.
