Well done to all in awards and to those for whom entering at all was a hugely new experience.
Many thanks to the landowners, who provided such excellent facilities, to the judges for their patience and and expertise and especially to Heather Harley and Bob Davis and family without whose help this event could not have happened – big thank you. We welcomed special guests – Peder Pedersen from Sweden with his fcr and Anne Paige and Steve Paige who ran their Golden Retrievers nfc
Thank everyone for making it a good day.

The Southern Area of the FCRS ran Novice and Novice Dog Novice Handler working tests for Flatcoated Retrievers and Golden Retrievers today at Penshurst in Kent, by kind permission of Lord De L’Isle. Many thanks to Dick Pettett for his organisation, our judges Jim Gale and Maddie Burr for their patience, to those who gave up their time to steward and to our dummy throwers David Hutchison and Andy Snow who did sterling work – the day would not have happened without you.
We had a good entry and a fairly even number of flatcoats and goldens running. The weather was kind to us – almost perfect for the two breeds, overcast but dry with the sun coming out for tea and prize-giving. The atmosphere was relaxed and it was lovely to see so many smiling faces and handlers helping each other out and swapping training tips. We hope the event will become a regular feature of the working test calendar in the south east with the Southern Golden Retriever Society hosting next year.
Unfortunately we had a number of handlers who had to pull out of NDNH and on the day it wasn’t possible to make any awards in this class. (Ruby (Boresile Arabella Allen for Larksburn) and I were presented with a dummy as the highest scoring dog but our scores were not consistent enough to be placed!)
In Novice awards were made to:
1st Steven Bancroft with Wadesmill Castlebury (GR)
2nd Carol Carter with Azteca Final Alliance (GR)
3rd Suzi Price with Blacklake Oberon for Ruddlebury (FCR)
4th Derek Bull with Keepersway Alana (FCR) and
COM Sue Jackson with Pandapaws Angus (GR)
Many congratulations to all concerned.
